As part of the wider Singapore Technologies Engineering (ST Engineering) Group, Mr Teong is currently heading the UAS business for the commercial and defence markets. He has over 25 years of aviation experience in major modifications of manned aircraft (such as Passenger-to-Freighter conversions) and the development of bespoke solutions for unmanned aircraft systems.
Under his leadership, the DroNet solution was launched in 2018 and was granted the first Beyond-Visual-Line-of-Sight (BVLOS) medium-risk permit in Singapore in 2022. Today, DroNet has accumulated over 20,000 flight sorties and 7000 hours, and it is widely used for BVLOS flight operations for reservoir monitoring, parcel deliveries, public security, and powerline inspections. The company is now focused on development of a 600kg class cargo UAS, incorporating the safety and capabilities built up over the years.
Mr Teong also actively supports the development of UAS-related Technical References or Standards for the Singapore Standards Council. He served as the co-convener of the working group, which developed TR 78-1:2020 and TR78-2:2021 for the inspection of building facades using UAS. He is now serving as the Co-Chair of the Aerospace Standards Technical Committee as part of the Singapore Standards Council.
