Ran N. Lati

Department of Plant Pathology and Weed Research, Newe Ya’ar Research Center, ARO, Israel

Ran Lati is a weed scientist focused on developing and integrating advanced weed control methods to improve the sustainability of agricultural systems. His main areas of interest are the employment of advanced technologies to promote various weed research aspects, and integration of new non-chemical weed control tactics into current control systems The overall objective of his research is to develop Precise Weed Management (PWM) and Integrated Weed Management (IWM) programs and to promote alternative weeding tactics. By doing so he aims to minimize the use of herbicides and reduce herbicide-dependence of current weed control systems.

He majored his B.Sc. and M.Sc. at the Department of Plant Pathology and Microbiology, in the Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Science, and his Ph.D. at the Department of Mapping and Geo-Information Engineering in the Technion. He had a Postdoctoral Position at the Plant Sciences Department, University of California, Davis. Since 2016 he is a research scientist in the Volcani Center.
