Dr. Ma’anit Shapira (Ph.D) is the head of the Clinical Laboratory Department and the Hematology Laboratory at Hillel Yaffe Medical Center in Hadera, Israel. She also a lecturer in the Rappaport Faculty of Medicine, Technion-Israel Institute of Technology.  She is a board member of Israel Society for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (ISCLS), representing Israel in the European Federation of Clinical Chemistry (EFLM) Task Force for Green and Sustainable Laboratories (TF-GSL).
She received her Ph.D from the Faculty of Medicine in Tel Aviv University studying long-term effects of opioids and cannabinoids. Later she was a Senior Research Assistant in Rambam Health Care Campus studying the effect of cell cycle regulation on development of cancer tumors. Her main research interests are laboratory management, quality assurance and the immune and coagulation systems. Using drones for clinical samples transportation arises from the need for a reliable and sustainable solution for this routine yet challenging process.
